It's Official!

We are homeowners!!

We finally closed last Thursday and it was one of the worst experiences ever! But I wont get into the gory details of how much I hated the mortgage lender. We are pretty much all unpacked with the exception of a few boxes and clothes left at the apartment. It is so nice to be able to have our own place and not worry about being loud or having neighbors so freakin close!

We have some big changes coming our way this week so I will do my best to update this as they come up!

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas... and very pic heavy

Yes, I can not help but get into the Christmas spirit when I hear this song. With the stress of waiting to close on the house, I decided to start shopping now, that way it is one more thing checked off the list. So far the only one who is done completely is our niece Maci. Since she is so darn cute I will be the show off Auntie and share her with all of you. Here she is watching Sports Center with Uncle Jon...

Cute eh? Oh, I can't forget to post those updated picture of the house from our inspection!

New Life, New Blog

Since this blog is not about fixing up Jon's Grandma's house anymore I changed the wording of the title to fit more with our new home-buying life. I will probably use it for house stuff and rambling about other random things as well.

Our inspection went great! No major things need to be done, just some touch ups here and there. We are still waiting for the appraisal from the bank, but once that is done we should close. It's looking like we might not close until early December, which sucks, but at least we have the rest of the month to paint and move boxes in.

We are getting a new house!

Jon and I realized it was going to take us so much time to get his grandma's house clean out and fixed up that we decided to move on to a new house for the time being.

One of his co-workers bought a cute 2 BR house and fixed it up last year. We looked at it then, but could not afford it, so we thought it was not ment to be. Jamie (Jon's co-worker) ended up renting it and we thought that was the end of it.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Jamie called Jon and said he knew that I loved the house and that he was selling it because the renter took off and he didn't want to deal with renters anymore. This could not have happened at a more perfect time! We are ready to be homeowners and while we will still be working on his grandma's house, this will get us out of the apartment and into our own place!

The inspection is set for Thursday, so if everything goes well we should close by the end of the month! Here are a few teaser pics until I take more with my better camera during the inspection. Enjoy!

Progress has started!

Over the last week we started taking things off the walls and clearing out the 2 spare bedrooms. A lot of the items in the house are antiques so Jon's mom has been helping us out with getting that stuff out of the house or selling it. We still have a long road ahead of us, but here are some updated photos!

The spare bedroom so far...

Everything is off the walls but things got shifted back to the living room but we are getting there!
